A few things to know before you prepare a salad -
Try to use the freshest vegetables and fruits available.
If there is a Farmer's Market in your area, purchase your produce there. You will be able to meet the farmers who grew it and ask any questions you have about the process they use.
Clean your fruit and vegetables before using. Use care when cleaning berries as they will bruise easily.
Make sure your work surface is clean and not contaminated with meat of any kind, especially poultry.
A good way to clean a cutting board is to pour a small amount of Hydrogen Peroxide on the surface. Let it set for 5 minutes or more and rinse. This also removes odors such as onion and garlic.
Add any leftover herbs you have on hand to your green salad for an extra flavor zip.
